Best Disneyland Paris hotels for families (ranked by honest value)

Best overall value: Hotel Cheyenne

Cheyenne is the hotel we recommend on more Holiday Savings Reports than any other. It costs roughly £980 to £1,200 for a family of four on a five night half board package in shoulder season. It is a 15 minute walk to the parks. Disney Magic Hours are included. The Wild West theme delights children up to about 11 and the bunk bed setup means the kids think the room is brilliant.

Why it wins on value: half board is priced reasonably here, the rooms genuinely sleep four (and the family room sleeps five), and you get the same Magic Hours benefit as guests paying twice as much at Newport Bay. The trade is you do not get a pool. For most families that is not actually a factor on a Disney trip.

Cheapest on-site: Hotel Santa Fe

Santa Fe is the cheapest official Disney hotel. Similar walk to the parks as Cheyenne, same Magic Hours, slightly older feel. Usually £80 to £150 cheaper than Cheyenne for the same dates. The Cars theme is a hit with younger children.

Pick Santa Fe over Cheyenne if you are on the tightest budget that still keeps you on-park, or if your children are under seven and Cars matters more than cowboys. Otherwise the Cheyenne upgrade is usually worth the small extra.

Premium pick: Newport Bay Club

Newport Bay sits on the lake, 12 minutes' walk from the parks, with a proper pool and one of the better hotel restaurants. Typical cost for a family of four on five night half board: £1,650 to £2,100. Club rooms (which include lounge access and breakfast in a quieter space) add about £400 to the total.

Worth the extra if you want a calmer evening, you like the idea of a swim at the end of a park day, and the difference of £600 over Cheyenne does not move the needle for your budget. Not worth the extra if you are barely going to be in the room.

Best off-park value: Explorers Hotel

Explorers is the off-park hotel of choice for budget conscious families. It is 5 minutes by free shuttle from the parks, the family rooms genuinely sleep four to six, breakfast buffet is included on most packages, and there is a brilliant pool with a small water park feature. Typical total for a family of four, five nights: £640 to £820.

The trade is no Magic Hours and the shuttle (rather than a walk). Magic Hours sound important in the brochure but on a five day trip you can comfortably forgo them and still see everything. The shuttle runs every 20 minutes and is quick.

Best for big families and toddlers: Davy Crockett Ranch

Cabin-style accommodation in the woods, 15 minutes by car from the parks. Genuine kitchen, two bedrooms in most cabins, fireplace, your own outdoor space. Brilliant in summer, awkward in winter unless you love a cosy hideaway.

Costs vary hugely by season. A family of six in August can land a five night cabin for £980 to £1,200, which is impossible elsewhere. Same cabin in February is similar in absolute price but feels worse value because half the appeal is being outdoors.

The flagship: Disneyland Hotel

The pink hotel above the park entrance. Reopened in 2024 after a long refurbishment with a fairytale royal theme. Expensive: £3,200 to £6,000 for a family of four on five nights. Worth it for the once-in-a-lifetime crowd, the early entry into the park is a meaningful perk, and the lobby genuinely is a holiday memory in itself.

If your budget runs to this hotel, take it. If it does not quite, do not stretch. Two nights at Disneyland Hotel plus three at Cheyenne is a better experience than five nights at Disneyland Hotel that emptied the trip budget.

Comparison at a glance

What about partner hotels at the gate?

Hotel l'Elysée Val d'Europe, B&B Hotel Disneyland Paris, and Vienna House Magic Circus sit in the partner cluster a short shuttle from the parks. They are cheaper than on-park, often by 30 to 50 percent, and the rooms are perfectly fine. You do not get Magic Hours.

These are good answers if budget is tight and you want something newer than Explorers. They are not a meaningful step up from Explorers unless you specifically want a more modern room.

Hotel choices that hinge on the age of your children

Children under five: Hotel Cheyenne or Santa Fe. Both are themed enough to feel exciting without being overstimulating, the walk to the parks is manageable with a buggy, and the bunk-bed family rooms become part of the holiday story. Avoid Newport Bay with toddlers; the longer evening walk back from the parks in the dark is the bit nobody warns you about.

Ages 5 to 10: Sequoia Lodge or Newport Bay if the budget allows, Cheyenne if not. The lake walk back from the parks is a genuinely magical way to end an evening and these are the years where children notice and remember those details.

Tweens and teens: Newport Bay Club or Hotel New York Art of Marvel. The pool matters more, the more grown-up feel of the hotel matters more, and the proximity to a real cocktail for the parents matters too. Marvel theming works particularly well with 10 to 14 year olds.

Mixed ages or multi-generational: Davy Crockett Ranch cabins. Two bedrooms, a kitchen, outdoor space for the children, and a sofa for grandparents who want a quieter evening. Awkward in winter but unbeatable in July and August.

Half board, full board and meal plans decoded

Disney sells three meal plan tiers: Standard, Plus and Premium. Standard half board includes breakfast at your hotel and a counter-service dinner at any participating restaurant. Plus upgrades dinner to table service. Premium adds full table service across the whole trip including character meals.

For most families, Standard half board is the right answer. It saves £150 to £400 over à la carte, removes the daily decision, and the counter-service options across both parks are genuinely good. Plus is worth it only if you specifically want table service every night. Premium pays for itself only if you would have booked multiple character meals anyway.

The mistake most families make is buying the meal plan in resort. The price jumps about 25 percent compared to adding it at the time of booking. If you are even slightly tempted by half board, add it when you book the package, not when you check in.

Booking direct vs through a UK operator

Disneyland Paris sells direct via its website and through UK travel partners (TUI, Disney Holidays UK). Direct booking gives you the most flexible payment terms and the cleanest cancellation policy. UK operator packages occasionally beat direct when a free child or free dining promotion is running, particularly in February and September.

ATOL protection matters. Direct Disney bookings made from the UK are covered by Disney's own consumer protection plus your credit card if you paid that way. UK operator bookings carry ATOL automatically. For most families the protections are comparable; the deciding factor is usually price plus the convenience of one supplier for travel plus accommodation.

Pool, restaurants and theming compared

Newport Bay Club has the best pool of any on-site hotel: a heated indoor section with a kids' area and a larger outdoor pool with poolside service from the lakeside bar. Sequoia Lodge has the second best, more compact but with a quiet hot tub corner that adults appreciate after a park day.

Hotel Cheyenne and Santa Fe have no pool at all. For a five day Disney trip this matters less than it sounds. Families with under-sevens or anyone planning an afternoon rest day at the hotel should weigh this more carefully.

Restaurant quality runs roughly in this order: Disneyland Hotel (Royal Banquet, La Table de Lumière), Newport Bay Club (Cape Cod buffet, Yacht Club table service), Sequoia Lodge (Hunter's Grill buffet), Hotel New York (Manhattan Restaurant), Hotel Cheyenne (Chuckwagon buffet), Hotel Santa Fe (La Cantina buffet). The Cheyenne and Santa Fe buffets are perfectly fine; the step up is noticeable from Sequoia onwards.

Theming is the most personal of the three. The four most photographed hotel lobbies are Disneyland Hotel (full fairytale), Newport Bay Club (New England maritime), Sequoia Lodge (national park lodge) and Hotel New York Art of Marvel (gallery aesthetic with Marvel art). Cheyenne and Santa Fe theming is fun but the buildings are functional motel-style.

Final practical pointers most parents miss

Book your half board with the original package, not afterwards. The post-booking supplement is 25 to 30 percent above the bundled price. Lock in the room type at booking; a free room upgrade later is almost never offered for family rooms because Disney holds them back for full-rate bookings.

Take your own travel cot and pushchair where you can. The Disney hire kit is fine but the rental adds up. Bringing the buggy you already own saves £75 to £100 across a five night trip and means you actually have something familiar for the children.

Check the park calendar for Magical Hours days, parade timings and seasonal show schedules before you book your specific dates. Two of the seven nights a week have late opening and one tends to have a fireworks show that ends at 11pm; planning a long park day around those is worth more than any meal upgrade.
