All inclusive is the simplest way to book a family holiday but it is also one of the easiest categories to overpay in. The headline price is what most people compare, when what actually matters is the food quality, the family room layout, the location and the hidden extras. We have priced and reviewed dozens of family all inclusive options for 2026. Here are the destinations and specific resorts that give UK families the best value this year, plus the honest trade offs each one comes with.

The shortlist: where UK families actually get value in 2026

Three destinations consistently beat the rest on value for family all inclusive in 2026. Turkey, Greece (specifically Crete and Rhodes), and Bulgaria. All three offer 4 and 5 star family AI from £450 to £750 per person for a week in June or September, with high quality food, large family rooms, and reliable kids clubs.

Spain (Majorca, the Costa Brava, Tenerife) is still solid but has crept up 10 to 15 percent in 2026. Egypt has gone the other way and is back to genuine value for families willing to fly five hours. The Dominican Republic and Mexico are long haul options worth considering once your kids are old enough for the flight.

Turkey: the best value family AI of 2026

Antalya and Alanya are the two main areas, with around 200 family focused resorts between them. The combination of low cost of living, strong tourism investment and a competitive operator market means UK families get 5 star quality for 3 star Spanish prices.

The best resorts for UK families in 2026 are the Crystal Family Resort, the Susesi Luxury Resort, the Voyage Belek Golf and Spa, and the IC Hotels Santai Family Resort. Expect huge buffets with proper variety, multiple themed pools, water slides on site, kids clubs that genuinely run all day in English, and family suites with separate bedrooms.

The trade is the flight. Antalya is 4 hours from London and you usually do a 60 to 90 minute coach transfer at the other end. With young children this is a long day. The reward is a holiday where almost nothing costs extra once you arrive.

Crete and Rhodes: the food and culture pick

Greece is the family AI choice for parents who want better food than the average resort and a destination that feels Greek rather than international hotel. Crete and Rhodes both have a strong selection of 4 and 5 star resorts that get the family side right.

Standout 2026 picks are the Atlantica Imperial Resort (Rhodes), Mitsis Lindos Memories (Rhodes), Aldemar Knossos Royal (Crete), and Stella Island (Crete). All four have proper family rooms, all four have buffets with real Greek food alongside the international options, and all four have shallow zero entry pools that work for younger children.

The watch out in Greece is the upsell to the speciality restaurants. The standard AI in many Greek resorts includes the main buffet but charges extra for the Italian or Japanese restaurant on site. Always check what is actually included in the AI tier you book.

Bulgaria: the budget pick that needs careful resort choice

Bulgaria, specifically Sunny Beach and Albena, is the cheapest mainstream family AI option in Europe. £350 per person for seven nights is achievable in September. But the quality varies more in Bulgaria than anywhere else on this list. Booking the wrong resort here is a real risk.

The resorts we recommend for UK families are the Sol Nessebar Resort, the DIT Evrika Beach Club and the Iberostar Sunny Beach. All three are properly maintained, the food is genuinely good, and the kids club staff speak English. Avoid the bargain basement options under £300 per person. The saving is small and the quality drop is large.

Bulgaria works best for families with younger children who are happy on a pool and beach holiday and do not need a sightseeing trip. The flight is 3 hours, the transfer is short.

When all inclusive is the wrong choice

Not every family holiday should be all inclusive. If your family is one that likes to explore the local town and eat out in restaurants, AI ties you to the resort and you end up paying for meals twice. If your kids are very fussy eaters who would happily eat the same thing every day, the variety of an AI buffet is wasted on them.

AI also makes less sense for short trips of 3 to 4 nights. The price premium over half board does not pay back in that time. It pays back from 7 nights and especially from 10 nights, where the breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks and snacks add up.

AI makes most sense for families with kids aged 4 to 12 doing a 7 to 14 night beach holiday where the resort itself is the destination. That is the use case it was designed for and where the value is real.

How to compare two AI quotes properly

All inclusive is not all inclusive. Two resorts at the same headline price can include very different things. Before you book, check seven specific items. Is house wine and beer included or only branded? Are speciality restaurants included or paid? Are snacks between meals included? Is the mini bar included and refilled? Are non motorised water sports included? Is the kids club included and what are the hours? Are off site excursions included or extra?

The same resort at the Premium AI tier versus the Standard AI tier can have a £200 to £400 gap that hides four or five of these items. We have seen families pick the cheapest AI then spend an extra £40 a day on the upgrades they assumed were included.

When you are comparing quotes from different operators for the same resort, also check the transfer type. Shared coach versus private transfer is a £40 to £80 difference per person that some packages hide.

Frequently asked questions

Is all inclusive cheaper than half board?

Sometimes. For 7 nights or longer with younger children, AI usually saves £100 to £300 per family over half board plus food and drinks. For shorter trips or older kids who eat little, half board often wins.

What is the best month for family AI?

Late May, early June, or September. The weather is reliable, school is in for some of these weeks (lower prices), and the resorts are running fully but not crowded.

Are family suites always worth the upgrade?

Yes for families with kids over 5 or with three or more children. The separate bedroom means the parents can put the kids down at 8 pm and have an evening. A standard family room with everyone in one space is fine for two younger children but cramped beyond that.

Do I need to book character meals or kids clubs in advance?

Kids clubs at most family AI resorts are walk in. Character meals are not part of the standard AI offering at most resorts and are paid extras when offered. Speciality restaurants often need booking on arrival, not in advance.

Should I book direct with the hotel or through a tour operator?

For family AI in Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria and Egypt, almost always through a UK tour operator. They get block rates that direct booking cannot match, plus you get ATOL protection and the transfers included. For Spain and Portugal it is closer to even.
